STEM summer camps (science, technology, engineering, and math) are hugely popular in Jacksonville! There are now many unique ways to teach science that are fun and challenging, but also incorporate summer activities like field trips, water play, and more. Well, one local camp is taking STEM fun to the next level! Museum of Science and History (MOSH) Summer Discovery Camps is adding to its exploding experiments, week of exploring human biology science, and recycled material invention week by adding their brand new exhibit that begins May 27, 2017: DINOSAURS IN MOTION! At summer camp, students explore all the museum's exhibits, and this summer they get to explore, touch, and interact with Dinosaurs!
The Dinosaurs exhibit features 14 magnificent, life-sized dinosaur sculptures made of recycled metal. The sculptures were created by artist John Payne and are fully interactive with exposed mechanics inspired by actual fossils. The exhibition is presented to guests in the form of a narrative as an apprentice's journey through the art and science present in the space before ending in a journeyman's workshop. Guests are encouraged to touch and interact with all the elements of the recycled metal dinosaur sculptures while they explore the exhibit space.
Join MOSH for a new summer camp adventure each week and let kids have fun with DINOSAURS IN MOTION! Campers will explore science, history and astronomy as they conduct experiments, journey to the edge of the universe in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium and explore Museum exhibits. MOSH Discovery Camps are offered for KindergarDeners through eighth grades (6th – 8th grade camps select weeks only). Discovery Camps are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Before and after care is available!)
