Summer Reading, Summer Fun at the Jacksonville Public Library

  • When: Sunday, August 4, 2019 - All Day Event
  • Location: Your Local Library

Free Books, Prizes and Things to Do!

With a Universe of Stories, the Jacksonville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. This June and July, all ages can read to earn free books and prizes, and explore a ton of fun stuff, including a myriad of space-themed activities.

Here’s how the Summer Reading Program works:

Track your reading on a special bookmark (free at the library) and earn tickets to redeem for cool prizes. Get a new bookmark every week at your neighborhood library. Get a ticket for:

Reading for 15 minutes a day
Checking out materials
Logging onto a computer at the library
Getting or renewing a library card
Attending a library program
Volunteering – each day equals one ticket
Redeem tickets for prizes as you go, or save up for bigger prizes. Prizes are determined by the number of tickets redeemed, and can include candy, space bubbles, pencils, rocket pens, foam rocket kits, earbuds, slap bracelets, USB drives, and other items. The more you read, the more tickets you earn! Also, don’t forget to pick up a coloring/activity book at your library.

Receive a free book for each week that you read 15 minutes for five days.

More than 100 Summer Reading and Learning Activities

Engaging, hands-on events with everything from Alien Makeup and Drumming for Everyone to 2019: A Space Odyssey and the Zoo. You can take part in a six-weeks series, too, such as the Harry Potter Universe or Cosmic Destiny series.
