Georgia-Cumberland Island National Seashore

Georgia-Cumberland Island National Seashore

Cumberland Island is Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. Here pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches and wide marshes whisper the stories of both man and nature. Natives, missionaries, enslaved African Americans and Wealthy Industrialists all walked here. Cumberland Island is also home to over 9,800 acres of Congressionally designated Wilderness.

Be sure to check ferry times and make your ferry reservation ahead of time. For a safe enjoyable journey prepare yourself by wearing comfortable walking shoes, packing a lunch, snacks, and drinking water, using bug repellent, wearing sunscreen and/or a hat for protection, and finally pace yourself, especially in the summer heat. Beach accessible wheelchairs are available. Please advise Park staff at check-in that you are requesting a chair.
