The Guardian ad Litem Program is the exclusive advocate for children in the court system. Our volunteers are court-appointed special advocates who serve as the voice of the child in Duval, Clay and Nassau Counties. This voice is separate from the child’s family, foster care providers, attorneys or social workers.
Volunteers complete comprehensive training to learn how to observe children, parents and foster families. Their recommendations are critical to a judge’s analysis and final ruling on the fate of a child. Every day 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect in the United States. The Guardian ad Litem Program of Florida’s First Coast is in need of committed volunteers who are willing to be a voice of compassion and care on a child’s behalf.
