Volunteer Opportunities

JZG volunteers have the opportunity to work alongside Zookeepers, assist with our exciting special events, and support our botanical gardens horticulture staff!

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has a variety of opportunities for adults, teens and group opportunities. Explore your area of interest below for more detailed information and learn how to apply.

Groups
Ready to get creative! Want to help keep our animals happy? Volunteer Groups are always welcome. Groups must have at least 5 people, but no more than 20 to volunteer. Projects vary based on the time of year and what department you are assisting.

Teens
ZooTeens! is a specialized program for teens between the ages of 13 (if they have completed the 8th grade) and 17 years old. This program has an extensive application process and higher level of commitment than our Special Event Teen program.
Special Event Teen Volunteer opportunities are also available throughout the year, with a minimum commitment of 4 hours per month. Special Event Teen Volunteer applications will be processed in November 2020.
