Duval Co, No School Farm Days with Little Peeps

  • When: Monday, February 18, 2019,  9:00 am -  3:00 pm
  • Location: Beach Blvd & St John's Bluff area, Jacksonville, Florida 32246

Are your kids missing their Farm Days once school is back in session? This year, we will be opening the farm on quite a few of the days that Duval Co closes schools, so if you have a little one that wants some time on the farm, let me know, pre-registration and payment is required.

This is a mixed age drop-off program for children ages 4 and up.

Little Peeps Farm provides an experience different from your child’s everyday life. The activities we engage in, encourage teamwork, planning, leadership, and taking pride in one's work; while helping to build values such as responsibility, self-confidence and compassion.

Through hands-on work and activities, the children will learn all about what it means to care for and care about the animals on the farm and how it all ties into the natural flow of the year. Our activities and list of chores will change as the seasons do.

The fall will consist of milking the goats (until we dry them off), planting a winter garden, collecting the eggs and having fun! Winter is our in breath. The goats are pregnant and not milking, the egg laying slows down, we spend this time preparing for spring. New building projects, repairs, or just hanging out with the animals, making garden soup over a camp fire, or having fun with different seasonal crafts and/or games. The spring gets busy!! Seeds need to be planted for the new garden, egg production starts to pick up and most importantly... babies are being born!! So many impromptu things may happen... if the lemons are ripe, we may make lemonade, if the loquats are ripe we may make loquat jam, if we have a lot of basil we may make pesto! Learning to make cheese, yogurt, goats milk soap... the list of possibilities goes on and on!

In an effort to help all our little farmers stay strong and healthy, we ask that all parents please keep sick children at home Children need to be fever free for at least 24 hours and not contagious to attend a farm day.

Your child should bring the following items:
water bottle
heavy snack/lunch
sunblock/hat
bug spray
rinsable shoes
extra change of clothes

Please keep in mind that this is an outdoor program. We will spend the entire time outdoors unless we are chased inside by a thunderstorm! Please be sure your child shows up with appropriate clothing. Rain boots are great to have when it's really wet and mucky out, rain jackets if it calls for rain, jackets/coats when the weather gets cold... and the extra set of clothes is always a great idea because, well you just never know! lol!

The program cost will be:
$30/child for half day, 9-12
$60/child for whole day, 9-3

after care available when pre-arranged.

Pre-registration and payment is required to attend. If interested, please contact me for more information.

*When attending the farm, please be sure to pull all the way into the drive way and not out on the side of the road or in the ditch. Front gate will remain closed except during drop-off and pick-up times.
