At Ivybrook Academy, we take an innovative approach to preschool that encourages critical thinking, highlights creativity, and fosters a love for learning. By recognizing the strengths and needs of each child, we allow their individual uniqueness to shine.

Ivybrook Academy provides an emergent curriculum where both short and long-term, in-depth investigations and explorations emerge from careful observations of the children. Topics of study and experiences are designed to reflect and support the children’s interests and needs. Children are born with a natural curiosity about the world, and we cultivate that curiosity through meaningful social interactions with peers and adults. We believe that children are individuals whose strengths and gifts should be valued and nurtured.

Our Preschool honors and elevates children’s voices through a multi-sensory, discovery-based approach to early childhood education. We believe that children’s interests should be respected as they learn to ask questions, find answers, and share their discoveries. Our educators recognize each child's individual leaning style and create lesson plans and objectives tailored to each child. Using the physical environment as a rich resource for exploration, inquiry, and thought, we provide children with the resources and encouragement to explore the world around them.

We take a different approach. Ivybrook Academy offers a balanced curriculum that combines an innovative approach to early childhood education that also draws from the following customized learning approaches:

Montessori – Incorporates self-direction into the educational experience to strengthen children’s ability to consider options and make responsible choices.
Reggio Emilia – A child-led approach to curriculum that uses observations of each child to create individual learning plans.
Collaborative Learning – Small group activities to encourage collaboration and teamwork.
Discovery Program – Focused on creative expression, library studies, and music and movement.
Our educators create intentional environments that allow children to express their interests and construct knowledge. Emphasis is placed on a continuous cycle of learning and reflecting and documented by our teaching staff.
