Communities In Schools is one of the largest and most effective dropout prevention organizations in the country. The Jacksonville affiliate operates three unique divisions with the goal of decreasing dropouts and increasing graduation rates. Communities In Schools of Jacksonville was founded in December of 1989 and began operating within its first school – Jefferson Davis Junior High School – in January of 1990. In its 25-year history, the organization has grown from serving 50 students in one school to serving over 7,500 students in 36 schools.
