About Monarch Academy for Neurodiverse Youth and Young Adults (MANY)
Dr. Amaris Avellan's unique approach to neurodiverse education, childcare and consultation is informed by over two decades of professional experiences in Clinical Psychology, Sensory Processing research, as a United States Navy Veteran, Hospital Corpsman, Medical Laboratory Technologist, ABA Interventionist and personal lived experiences as an AuDH adult.
Monarch Academy for Neurodiverse Youth and Young Adults (MANY) is a private, neurodiversity-affirming school that serves students across the cognitive and sensory spectrum in Northeast Florida (Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns) and offers virtual options throughout the state. Founded and directed by Dr. Amaris Avellan, our innovative EcoLearning Systems model engages students in personalized, project-based, and sensory-informed education.
At MANY, students are placed in diverse learning environments, known as "Biomes," based on comprehensive psycho-educational assessments conducted upon enrollment. These Biomes operate on a seasonal, quarterly curriculum cycle, informed by an understanding of sensory processing systems and neurodiverse brain styles. Each student’s EcoSystem Personalized Learning Plan (EPLP) integrates core academics with executive functioning skills, self-regulation, and special interest-based exploration, ensuring that their unique cognitive, sensory, and emotional needs are met.
Biome Environments Include:
* Aquatic Biome: Sensory Seekers & Dynamic Explorers
* Forest Biome: Reflective Thinkers & Concept Builders
* Grassland Biome: Expressive Communicators & Social Learners
* Sky Biome: Innovators & Abstract Thinkers
In addition to our educational offerings, Dr. Avellan and MANY accept Step Up for Students vouchers for a variety of services, including Choice Navigator Consultation Services, which provide personalized support for neurodivergent students and their families in selecting educational programs and support services. MANY empowers neurodiverse individuals & families with tailored learning & support in a space where every mind truly MATTERS.
