Blue Spring is the winter home to numerous endangered manatees, Blue Spring is 2,644 acres of enchantment. Temperatures in the spring run remain a constant 72 degrees, creating a safe haven for the manatee during the cooler months and a cooling swim for humans during the long hot days of summer.
Summer park activities include St. Johns River Nature Cruises by a Florida Park Service Visitor Services Provider located along the banks of the river, swimming, diving, canoe and swim float rentals at the park snack bar. Pack a swimsuit, binoculars and plenty of curiosity.
Catch a firefly this spring. Thousands of fireflies will glow at Blue Spring State Park next year for firefly season in Central Florida. You can see this stunning display beginning at twilight in March and April, when the fireflies gather to flash their lights, decorating the evenings.
The Firefly Takeover event will take place at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, FL beginning in mid to late March 2020 and lasting a few weeks. Event-goers need a special pass to stay at the park after hours for the firefly show. The tour starts at dusk when the fireflies begin to twinkle.
