The Stingrays are composed of boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18. No competitive swimming experience is required; however, ALL swimmers should be confident in the pool, be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (technique is not important), and be able to follow directions from the coaches. New swimmers will be required to take a swim test to determine eligibility.
We are a non profit club, run by an elected Board of Directors who meet each month. All members are welcome at each Board meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraisers.
TFS coaches and staff seek to provide a safe, competitive experience for swimmers as they develop proper technique, set and attain personal goals, learn self-discipline and practice good sportsmanship. We think of ourselves as a "family". We have fun, enjoy each other's company and hopefully win some meets in the process. Personal development is what we stress. In swimming jargon, that means improving personal times. Establishing a healthy environment that encourages kids to do their best, recognizes their contributions to the team and is fun for the entire family - these are the goals of Team Fernandina Stingrays.
We stress "low stress" and no pressure.
