The Mandarin Art Festival is organized and hosted by the Mandarin Community Club and held every Easter weekend at their grounds--the former Freedom Schoolhouse established by author, Harriet Beecher Stowe, in the late 1800s. The Mandarin Art Festival is a high-quality juried fine art event in the heart of historic Mandarin and visited by thousands of visitors annually. The Mandarin Art Festival is a longtime running event of its kind in Northeast Florida.
In 1968, Club members and local artists Memphis Woods, Charlie Brown, Vena Sheimer, and Rosemary McCorkle came up with the idea for an art festival and presented it to the late Ed Westberry, a former Mandarin Community Club president. Ever since then, the Mandarin Art Festival has expanded to garner over 100 locally and nationally known artist exhibitors, local schools participating in our juried Children’s Art Show, local vendors selling their handmade and consumable products in our Green Market, traditional Bake Sale with goodies made and donated by our Club members, local food vendor favorites in our Food Court, and more.
