Jacksonville, FL – On Sunday June 23, Chabad of Jacksonville-Town Center will be unveiling AHAVAxBRITTO, an Exhibit of Joyful Jewish Art. Embodying the profound connection between art and heritage, this exhibit will feature a captivating collection of Britto’s Jewish-inspired masterpieces, as well as the work of local Jewish artists, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the vibrancy and dynamic energy that define Jewish life.

“This new exhibit is meant to bring joy, kindness and creativity to the community in Jacksonville.” said Chana Novack, co-director of Chabad of the Town Center and curator of the Malnik Gallery of Jewish Art. “At a time with so much hate and intolerance in the world, we are thrilled to be able to create an exhibit that is all about love and acceptance.”

The AHAVAxBRITTO exhibit will be hosted by the Malnik Gallery of Jewish Art. Inaugurated in 2020, the Malnik Gallery is home to the “Ahava” Sculpture, a Hebrew version of the iconic LOVE statue created by Robert Indiana in 1977. It uses the four Hebrew letters that comprise “Ahava" the word for “love” in the same distinctive pattern as the original LOVE statue in New York. Donated by Miami philanthropist and art collector Alvin Malnik, the Ahava statue is a tribute to the loving atmosphere nurtured by Chabad houses and around the world.

The new exhibit will unveil “Ahava”, a new art piece created by Romero Britto following his visit to the Chabad of Jacksonville-Town Center in June of 2023. After encountering the iconic Robert Indiana Sculpture, Britto created a stunning pop-interpretation of the piece in his bright and colorful signature style. Other Jewish works by Britto include the Britto Kippah, the Dancing Rabbi, and his “pop-portrait” of the Rebbe, the most influential Jewish leader in modern history, whose 30th yahrzeit (anniversary of his passing) will be on July 7.

The Exhibit is open to the public and will feature gourmet wine and cheese tasting. It will also feature the work of local Jewish artists who will share their work with the community. If there are artists who would like to have their art displayed together with Romero Britto, Please reach out at This email address is being protected from spambots. “Romero Britto, the Pablo Picasso of our day, showed his love and appreciation for the Jewish community by creating custom artwork for our gallery, and we are so excited to showcase it to the community,” says Novack. For more info about the event, please visit www.chabadjax.com/gallery
