Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida is excited to host a free, family-friendly film screening of 'Peace by Chocolate' on September 14th at 5 PM at the University of North Florida Robinson Theater! After the screening, the director and lead actor will hold a Q&A session about the movie and their experiences with resettlement. This is a perfect opportunity for families and individuals interested in refugee stories and cultural experiences to come together and learn.
Peace By Chocolate, directed by Jonathan Keijser, is based on the true story of the Hadhad family. This family was the premiere chocolate maker in Syria until they were forced to flee war to start a new life in Canada. The family must overcome the challenges of adjusting to their new home and gaining acceptance in their new community. This movie highlights what it is like for some refugee families and their experience in the resettlement journey. The film's message is about acceptance, spreading peace, and, of course, chocolate!
