Groundwork Jacksonville invites the community to Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LaVilla Link Butterfly Garden along the Emerald Trail. This FREE family event celebrates trails nationwide opening while recognizing Arbor Day and Earth Day—a perfect opportunity to appreciate nature, healthy living, and community connection.
Activities include:
• Tree Talks & Flower Talks
• Bike safety demonstration by THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health at Wolfson Children’s Hospital
• Live music at Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing Park
• StoryWalk for kids
• Chalk art activities for kids and families
• Guided trails walk with the Sierra Club
• Exhibits and tabling by CREST (water testing and recruitment) and REI (hiking best practices and safety)
• Giveaways, food trucks, and more!
• Special butterfly release at 1:00 p.m.
• Meet Overstreet Ducasse, artist of the Park St Mural
Celebrate Trails Day is part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, which encourages people nationwide to get outside and explore local trails. The program is made possible by Baptist Health and the Community Forestry Program of the USDA Forest Service. It also spotlights the Emerald Trail’s role in providing safe, beautiful greenways that connect neighborhoods in Jacksonville.
