Jacksonville Public Library Junior Scientists (ages 5-8) - Online Event

If your child is into science, technology, engineering and math (or would they like to be), this is the time for them to shine. Read or talk through a STEM book with us and then we’ll do a STEM-based activity together.
Attention, Junior Scientists! This STEM-based program for ages 5-8 features a book and science activities that encourage deep thinking, inquiry, and fun.

Each week we will use a variety of materials that you may have at home to explore a scientific concept. This week’s needed materials are:

January 4

Theme: Texture and Touch

Featured Book: Hedgehugs by Steve Wilson & Lucy Tapper


Plastic bags
Rubber bands
(At least) 3 SEPARATE cups containing ice water and/or 3 pinecones
January 11

Theme: Sound

Featured Book: The Sound of Silence by Katrina Goldsaito

Registration is required for this event, and must be completed two hours prior to the start time. A library card is required for registration. If you do not have a card, click here to obtain a card.

Attendance is limited to 40 participants. Your Zoom name must match your registration name for you to be admitted to the program. A link to the Zoom meeting room will be sent 1 hour prior to the event.
